Reading Link Challenge

This free program, developed by the Fraser Valley Regional Library, promotes the ‘sport of reading’.  It is designed as an easy partnership between schools and public libraries that encourages children of all reading levels towards a love of reading.

The Kaslo & District Public Library coordinates this program in cooperation with JV Humphries and Redfish Elementary Schools and new in 2017 – Crawford Bay School, as well as the Columbia Basin Alliance for Literacy (CBAL) and the Kootenay Library Federation.

Grades 4 and 5 students from each school form teams and read the 6 selected books that are donated to the schools by the library. The teams meet for a friendly competition to answer questions in a quiz program and celebrate reading.
